Welcome to ESL Capital!

The purpose of ESL Capital is to provide resources for adult ESL learners and their teachers. The geographical focus of ESL Capital is Sacramento, California, the capital of California. The site name plays on the capital location and the resource meaning of the word capital. Because the site is on the web, anyone who wants to join and contribute positively to the site is wwelcom; use the link in the upper right hand corner of the home page.. Here are some of the things you will find :

  • links to sites that are useful to English learners, divided into categories. The site uses a cataloging database that allows sites to be put into more than one category so you may see some links in more than one category
  • the ability for each user to create a blog
  • a photo gallery ("Photos" on the menu) of pictures from Florin Tech, where I teach. I welcome picturees from other schools.
  • a news aggregator that gets the latest items from sites that have RSS, a method that provides automatic updates of content. The RSS feeds are under "Reading & Listening". Many of these items allow you to listen to read and listen at the same time.
  • Moodle, a "learning management system," is linked by the menu item "Learning Site". Moodle allows teachers to create an online class, with posted activieies and student tracking.

If you'd like to participate and contribute, let me know. I am excited about the possiblities this site offers.
